According to Southern California Edison, as of Thursday, March 9, “The current water elevation in the Middle Ranch Reservoir is 652.3 feet above sea level. This equates to a storage capacity of 538 acre-feet.”
Edison and Avalon city officials continue to disagree about the size and location of water storage facilities. No water storage facilities are currently being built on Catalina Island.
Visitors will be relieved by water restrictions. As winter turns to spring, and with it spring break, the visitor season begins on Catalina Island. The impact of visitors on the water supply is not yet known.
