As of Thursday, June 19, the Thompson Reservoir water level measured 342 acre feet, a 2 acre foot decrease from the June 12 measurement. Stage 2 water rationing, which requires residents and businesses to reduce their water use by 25 percent, becomes mandatory when the Thompson Reservoir measures 300 acre feet.

In a June 12 email to the Catalina Islander, Avalon Harbor Master Brian Bray said that for now the Harbor Department will not regulate the amount of water a boater can take on at the dock. “We are in the process of installing a coin meter for cost recovery of the water supplied, ie: $.025 for about 20 gallons. We will promote conservation and ask boaters to make sure they fill their water tanks before coming to the island,” Bray said.
