As of Thursday, April 17, the Thompson Reservoir water level measured 379 acre feet. On April 10, the water level measured 385 acre feet. An acre foot is enough water to cover 1 acre of land in water that is 3 feet deep. When the water level reaches 300 acre feet, Avalon will have to go into Stage 2 water rationing—which will require residents and businesses to reduce their water usage by 25 percent. Council Member Oley Olson recently predicted that Avalon could be in Stage 3 rationing—a 50 percent reduction in water use—by September.
